You will learn how to read the new food label and

 how to recognize approved content claims and approved health claims.

THE ART OF LOW FAT LIVING

This month we sort out the facts about fat

 including fat in the body and fat in the food.

You will learn to:

Achieve and maintain a 30% fat meal plan,

Make wise choices when dining out,

Make smart substitutions when cooking.

 

 

FITNESS FOR LIFE:  GETTING THE MOST OUT OF MOVING YOUR BODY

Discussion centers around staying active.

  You will learn about metabolism, calories as fuel, how calories differ,

 and the starvation state.

We also focus on physical activity including:

Benefits of fitness,

Setting realistic goals,

How long, how hard and how often,

Triad of physical fitness.

 

 

SUMMER GRILLING -- EASY AND NUTRITIOUS

It's hot, so we cook outdoors.  It's wonderful!

You will learn about the hazards of grilling, easy solutions,

 tips for better grilling and safety.

The lesson includes:

The leanest cuts of meat

How to recognize them

The best ways to prepare them

Selecting and grilling fruits and vegetables

We show you how to cut the fat when preparing meat without sacrificing flavor.

 

WATER: THE FORGOTTEN NUTRIENT

Learn about the chemical properties of water,

where it is found on and in earth, how much of the body is water.

Discussion includes benefits of water as a:

Nutrient, cleaner, stress reducer

We assist you in making sense of the types of fiber,

 soluble and insoluble and how processing and enriching changes it.

DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS, ARE THEY WORTH THE MONEY?

We take you all the way from elegant dining to fast food,

 what to order and what to avoid.

An easy checklist is provided to fine tune your skills.

 

DIET -- THE FOUR LETTER WORD

Learn all about the psychology of eating, how our eating habits start.

We review diet as a noun

 (consuming food and drink as a prescribed or planned meal plan)

and as a verb (dieting for weight loss).

Find out about how eating is affected by communication

and how not to feel guilty about "wondering".
